OOTD: Let’s get down to business

( Top: LOFT // Skirt: Banana Republic // Shoes: Marc Jacob // Bracelets: Alex and Ani )

It’s only been five months since I’ve done an outfit of the day post. I’d like to say that I have had some cute outfits since then, it was just that the fashion posts were getting a lot more traction than all my other posts and I really didn’t want this to be a fashion blog. Still, they are fun on occasion and I figured what better way to do a “my first week at work” update than with some business casual threads.

OOTD: High Waisted Shorts & Royal Blue

(Top: LOFT // Shorts: Forever 21 // Sandals: Target)

It’s been a wild few weeks here at the end of the semester, so I’m sorry I haven’t been super frequent. The good (and exciting) news is that today I finished my last day of college courses ever. Now all I have are some virtual assignment submissions standing between me and graduation… oh and that big presentation tomorrow.. but classes? Yep, they’re over for good! Someone asked me if it was bittersweet. I was happy to report that at this point it’s just sweet. On to the next thing–

OOTD: Croissants in Paris or Homework in NC?

Top: H&M // Jeans: LOFT // Boots: Hunter ab

It’s really rare to see me in pants that aren’t navy or black- even though I live in jeans and colored jeans have been big over the past decade. With that being said, I found these last week and can’t get enough of them, because, well, they’re blue enough to look more traditional, and muted enough to not jump down your throat. I own a pair of maroon ones that I don’t wear too super often because I feel like they’re pretty loud (which I know they aren’t- I still haven’t figured out why I feel this way).

On a side note I own way to many striped tops. This one is from about five years ago- but details, details. I haven’t killed it just yet. The Hunters were a bargain of a lifetime and the best rain boots I’ve ever owned. They also have some clay on them in these pictures from my ceramics class I’m taking this semester. I didn’t notice that till I was cropping them. My bad!

OOTD: I Showed Up in Boots

IMG_1614IMG_16131Shirt: LOFT // Shorts: American Eagle // Boots: Dan Post

Title as in the Garth Brooks song, “Blame it All on my Roots, I Showed up in Boots.” If there was ever an appropriate time to use that title I figured it involved my favorite cowboy boots – which are also the only shoes I own that cost more than $100. That’s standard for real working cowboy boots. But they’ll last me for as long as the insoles can last- then you replace them and keep wearing the boots. The ones I wear to the farm I wear every other day in tough conditions and they last for a very long time.

That’s one reason I say that if you want a pair of cowboy boots, it’s worth buying a real brand that people use to ride and work the farm in. They make really beautiful ones with that purpose!
